The 2020 Nobel Prize in Physics, awarded to Roger Penrose, Reinhard Genzel and Andrea Ghez, concerns the demonstration of the existence of black holes In the universe. In this talk we will describe the history of black holes, the revolutionary works of Penrose and the physical characteristics of the black hole which lies in the center of the Milky Way.
