Astrophysicist Saul Perlmutter, who led the discovery of the accelerated expansion of the Universe in the nineties and received the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2011, was awarded an honorary doctorate by the UB in a ceremony presided by the rector, Joan Elias, together with his patrons, professors Ramon Canal, from the Department of Quantum Physics and Astrophysics, and Pilar Ruiz Lapuente, member of the Institute of Cosmos Sciences of the UB (ICCUB, UB-IEEC), and the dean of the Faculty of PHyi

The astrophysicist Saul Perlmutter, who led the discovery of the accelerated expansion of the Universe and was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2011, will be awarded the honorary doctorate by the University of Barcelona on Monday May 20, at 12 noon, in the Paranimph of the Historical Building.

The 5th Science Festival of the University of Barcelona, to be held on Friday May 17 during the morning at the Historical Building, comes with many new activities.

The festival aims to make research carried at the University accessible to everyone, in a fun and innovative way. Therefore, throughout the day, UB - organize outreach activities, workshops, talks and games that will value the work of researchers from all fields of knowledge.
