The UB community can access for free with the UB card

Cosmologist Priyamvada Natarajan visits Barcelona invited by the Institute of Cosmos Sciences of the UB and the CCCB.

The cosmologist and theoretical astrophysicist Licia Verde received the Lodewijk Woltjer Lecture yesterday. Awarded by the European Astronomical Society (EAS), the award was presented within the framework of the European Week of Astronomy and Space Science (EWASS), which takes place in Lyon from June 24 to 28.

The astrophysicist Saul Perlmutter, who led the discovery of the accelerated expansion of the Universe and was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2011, will be awarded the honorary doctorate by the University of Barcelona on Monday May 20, at 12 noon, in the Paranimph of the Historical Building.

The 5th Science Festival of the University of Barcelona, to be held on Friday May 17 during the morning at the Historical Building, comes with many new activities.

The festival aims to make research carried at the University accessible to everyone, in a fun and innovative way. Therefore, throughout the day, UB - organize outreach activities, workshops, talks and games that will value the work of researchers from all fields of knowledge.

On Wednesday, April 10, the image of the supermassive black hole in the center of the Messier 87 galaxy made by the scientific team of the Event Horizon Telescope (EHT) was made public.

The 2019 Lodewijk Woltjer Lecture is awarded to Prof. Licia Verde (ICREA at University of Barcelona, Spain) for outstanding work in cosmology, especially in the study of the cosmic microwave background and the large-scale structure of the Universe.
