The scientific breakthroughs and discoveries happening in today’s research are possible only due to the legacy left by many scientists throughout history. In this outreach talk, organised by the quantum physics amateur association Sopa de Partículas, Roberto Emparan (ICREA-ICCUB) will follow the steps of Einstein and Hawking to delve into the mysteries of the Universe.
TALK: «FROM BLACK HOLES TO THE THEORY OF EVERYTHING: FOLLOWING THE STEPS OF EINSTEIN AND HAWKING»
The disconcerting enigmas about black holes and the origin of the Universe, the limits of space and time and the search for a “theory of everything”... What better way to delve into these fascinating questions than to follow the steps of the most popular scientists of history: Einstein and Hawking? Looking into their legacy, we will learn things like how our smartphones know that gravity distorts time, how oblivion is not possible in a quantum universe, and we will understand why we must never stop looking at the stars.
