On the occasion of March 8, International Women’s Day, and beyond the celebration of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science (11 February), ICCUB reaffirms its commitment to highlighting the essential role of women in research and to making their contributions across physics and cosmology more visible.

In this context, members of the Institute of Complex Systems of the University of Barcelona (UBICS) are organizing the fourth edition of the lab tour “Research in Feminine”, which will take place on Tuesday, March 10, at the Faculty of Physics of the University of Barcelona.

The main goal of this initiative is to provide first-hand insight into the research carried out by PhD candidates and researchers. Through guided visits to laboratories and workspaces, participants will present the key aspects of their projects and share their research experiences, creating an open space for dialogue and exchange with students.

This fourth edition brings together ten researchers, seven of whom are members of ICCUB, highlighting the institute’s strong commitment to promoting and supporting women in research. The participants are:

  • Chloé Padois (Exoplanets)
  • Mireia Olives Verger (Dynamics and criticality in neuronal cultures)
  • Beatriz Vargas Carosi (Electron Microscopy)
  • Laia Montellà (Primordial Black Holes)
  • Amanda Green-Salinas (Quantum Gravity & Electronic Transport)
  • Judith Ardèvol Guillamón (Galactic Structure)
  • Sandra Tomás Valls (Quantum Telecommunications)
  • Laura Ramió Matas (Signal Processing)
  • Adriana Nadal Matosas (Observational Cosmology)
  • Anna Castellví i Picanyol (Magnetism: Imaging of Spin Waves)

The visits will begin at 2:00 pm in Room 3.20 of the Faculty of Physics (c/ Martí i Franquès, 1–11, Pau Gargallo entrance) and will last approximately 30 minutes. A light refreshment will be offered afterwards, providing an additional opportunity to share experiences and reflections on doctoral studies and research careers.

Physics students are warmly encouraged to participate. Registration is available via the QR code on the event poster.

ICCUB invites the community to join this initiative and to continue fostering the visibility of women in science.
