Sofyan Iblisdir, who is a researcher at the Quantum Technologies group at the Institute of Cosmos Sciences, will offer the outreach talk “Quantum Computing: a brief introduction” next Wednesday, November 10, to the quantum physics amateur association Sopa de Partículas.

TALK: «QUANTUM COMPUTING: A BRIEF INTRODUCTION»

What is quantum computation? Unlike classical computers, that work using 1 and 0 (signal or no signal), quantum computers benefit from the laws of quantum mechanics to work with a superposition of states. Thanks to that, quantum computers can carry out tasks that would be impossible for a conventional computer.

In this talk, we will ask ourselves what it means to compute from a physical point of view and furthermore, we will see why the laws of quantum mechanics are relevant in computin in general. Altogether, we will show some specific Applications of quantum computation and the experimental challenge behind the making of a quantum computer.

When? Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at 7 pm

Where? Centre Cívic Guinardó (Ronda del Guinardó, 113, Barcelona)

Registration You can register prior to the event here

Keep in mind that it is compulsory to wear a mask at all times during the activity.
