The Institute of Cosmos Scieneces reseracher and ICREA reseracher, Roberto Emparan, is giving the talk "From Black Holes to the Theory of Everything. Following the steps of Einstein and Hawking" today, Friday, October 29, at the Ateneu de Maó.
TALK: «FRM BLACK HOLES TO THE THEORY OF EVERYTHING. FOLLOWING THE STEPS OF EINSTEIN AND HAWKING»
In this talk, we will discuss one of the most intriguing gravitational phenomena: Black Holes and Gravitational Waves. We will approach them from a classical point of view, following Einstein's legacy and his theory of General Relativity, and from a Quantum point of view, thanks to Hawking's contributions to the field.
When? Friday, October 29 at 8 pm
Where? Auditorium of the Ateneu of Maó
Streaming You can follow the talk online at the Ateneu de Maó's YouTube channel
About the Author
Roberto Emparan is an ICREA researcher at the Institute of Cosmos Sciences of the University of Barcelona, he is one of our most internationally recognized physicists in the field of gravity, black holes and superstring theories. His research focuses on the study of gravity, the structure of space-time, and black holes, in both classical and quantum aspects. He has published nearly 100 research articles and taught over 150 invited talks and lectures on black holes, string theory, and cosmology.

Simulations of Quantum Mechanics
Simulations of Quantum Mechanics starts as a collaborative project involving undergraduate students, professors and researchers. It is based on the development of computer programs, created by students under the supervision of professors, which allow introducing basic concepts of quantum mechanics and the physics of ultracold gases to the students of baccalaureate and degree. The programs carried out aim to be rigorous from the scientific point of view, solving the relevant equations in a precise manner, combined with a graphical interface that allows users to interact with them in a pleasant way.
OBJECTIVES:
Encourage cooperation among seniors of degree
Bring seniors in the research that takes place in our department
Produce a useful tool for the dissemination of science at the high school level
