In this talk, we will review the history of nuclear physics. We will talk about how Rutherford discovered the proton in 1917; how Aston measured the first isotopes in 1922 and how Chadwick proved the existence of the neutron in 1935. We will also review the history of this fascinating discipline up to the present day, including the recent discoveries of nature's heaviest elements.
