European Researchers’ Night is a science outreach event held simultaneously in over 400 cities across 30 European countries, supported by the European Commission through the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions. Its goal is to bring research closer to the public, highlight its social relevance, and inspire scientific vocations.

This year, the Institute of Cosmos Sciences of the University of Barcelona (ICCUB) is participating at CosmoCaixa with three proposals that blend science, art, and games:

🎧 Listening to the Universe
Discover what gravitational waves and pulsar signals sound like! This interdisciplinary activity, in collaboration with the UB Faculty of Fine Arts, invites you to listen to the vibrations of space-time caused by cosmic collisions.

When? De 18h a 20h

Where? Lynn Margulis (Planta -5)

Researchers: Helena Ubach Raya, Arnau Rios, Alberto Revilla, Roque Márquez, Jordi Espuny, Anna Moreso, Germán López i Raimon Luna

🧩 Binding blocks
Build with LEGO and 3D puzzles to understand the properties of nuclear isotopes and nuclear fusion physics. A playful proposal to reflect on the planet’s energy future.

When? De 19:30h a 20h

Where? Sala Pi (Planta -2)

Researchers: Arnau Rios Huguet, Javier Rozalén Sarmiento, Dorian Fryc, Daniel Castillo i Kerman Gallego

🌀 Physics simulations
Using interactive models, explore surprising phenomena from quantum mechanics and statistical physics, from wave function collapse to Brownian motion. An ideal activity to learn physics through play!

When? De 18h a 20h

Where? Lynn Margulis (Planta -5)

Researchers: Carles Calero, Bruno Juliá i Arnau Jurado
